Pada Part 6 ini kami membahas tentang HDLC (High Data Link Control), PPP (Point to Point Protokol), PPPoE (Point to Point over Ethernet), Frame Relay.
HDLC (High level Data Link Control)
HDLC ( High level Data Link Control ) adalah protokol untuk digunakan dengan WAN ( Wide Area Networks ) yang secara luas dapat mengatasi kerugian – kerugian yang ada pada protokol – protokol yang berorientasi karaktek seperti Bi-Synch, yaitu yang hanya dapat bekerja secara half-duplex ( pengiriman isyarat dua arah tetapi tidak dalam waktu yang bersamaan) biasanya protokol ini menggunakan kabel Serial ,dan bekerja pada layer 2.
PPP (Point to Point Protokol)
Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) adalah data link protokol yang umum digunakan dalam membangun hubungan langsung antara dua node jaringan. Hal ini dapat menyediakan koneksi otentikasi, transmisi enkripsi.
PPP digunakan di banyak jenis jaringan fisik termasuk kabel serial, saluran telepon, trunk line, telepon seluler, jaringan radio khusus, Penyedia layanan Internet (ISP) telah menggunakan PPP untuk pelanggan dial-up akses ke Internet, karena paket IP tidak dapat dikirimkan melalui jalur modem sendiri, tanpa beberapa protokol data link.
PPPoE (Point to Point Protokol over Ethernet)
PPOE adalah singkatan dari “Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet.” PPPoE adalah konfigurasi jaringan yang digunakan untuk membuat koneksi PPP melalui protokol Ethernet. Biasanya digunakan untuk membuat koneksi Internet DSL. Untuk menggunaan PPPoE ini biasanya menggunakan usernama dan Password untuk bisa akses Internet.
Frame Relay
Frame Relay adalah protokol packet-switching yang menghubungkan perangkat-perangkat telekomunikasi pada satu Wide Area Network (WAN). Protokol ini bekerja pada lapisan Fisik dan Data Link pada model referensi OSI. Jadi dia yang menghubungkan antara jaringan MAN pada jaringan WAN.
Frame Relay di rancang untuk mengurangi pemrosesan pada node, sehingga waktu tunda transmisi dapat di kurangi, setiap node frame relay memiliki tiga fungsi utama yaitu mendeteksi kondisi timbulnya kemacetan, mendeteksi adanya kesalahan (error) dan memeriksa pengalamatan informasi dalam bagian alamat frame.
