RIP (Routing Information Protokol) adalah salah satu metode dynamic routing pada IPv4 yang menggunakan distance vektor protokol.

- Penjelasan
RIP (Routing Information Protokol) adalah salah satu metode dynamic routing pada IPv4 yang menggunakan distance vector protokol, distance vector adalah proses routing yang mencari jalan terbaiknya untuk menuju ip tujuan dengan menggunakan hop terpendek. Dan RIP sendiri hanya bisa menjangkau sampai 15 hop (lompatan).
RIP ada 2 versi (versi1 dan versi 2) dan pada kedua versi mempunyai perbedaan, RIPv1 menggunakan ip broadcast (255.255.255.255) untuk mengupdate table routing, sedangkan RIPv2 menggunakan ip multicast (224.0.0.9) untuk mengupdate table routing. RIP sendiri mengupdate table routing selama 30 detik sekali.
